The South Yorkshire Skills Accelerator is putting business engagement at the heart of the regional skills agenda

It’s time to transform the way we develop skills in South Yorkshire. Bringing together businesses, skills providers, and local government, we want to create an agile and responsive skills system that offers new ways of training and empowering people in education and the workforce.

As one of only eight trailblazer regions, this is South Yorkshire’s opportunity to build the best skills system in the UK.

How will we do it?

We need to find out from businesses of all sizes, across all industries, what is stopping or delaying you from growing and advancing your workforce. This includes the skills pipeline and your existing employees. Through a series of region-wide events, we are inviting employers to contribute to our research by telling us what is working, what barriers exist, and what should change.

Your input will help us to create a Local Skills Improvement Plan (LSIP) which sets out the next steps needed to build the UK’s most agile skills system. We will deliver a report to the Strategic Development Fund and central Government, outlining exactly what help we need to build this system.

Who are we?

The South Yorkshire Skills Accelerator is run by those involved in the Local Skills Improvement Plan (LSIP) and the Strategic Development Fund (SDF). The LSIP is led by the Doncaster Chamber on behalf of the South Yorkshire Chambers and the SDF is led by Barnsley College on behalf of the South Yorkshire education and training providers. Our research partners are Kada Research, an independent and expert research company, and Sheffield Hallam University.
